Arch Angel (アーチエンジェル, Āchienjeru) is a paramilitary organization that appears in Children Who Chase Lost Voices. Ryuji Morisaki is a member before defecting from it.
Overview[]
Arch Angel wants the knowledge of the underworld in order to lead humanity on the proper path. However, according to Ryuji, it is actually just a group of empty-headed Gnostics.
The leaders of the organization reside in Europe.

In 1963, Arch Angel's soldiers participated in a war in Europe. While Ryuji Morisaki was on a mission, his wife Lisa died in an accident at home.
For ten years, Ryuji and the organization had been looking for Agartha, a legendary world underground. In one of their missions, they found an entrance to Agartha in South Pole, but could not break through it.

In 1973, Arch Angel came to the small town of Mizonofuchi in the region of Obuchi, Nagano after reports of paranormal activities there. Assisted by an attack helicopter, they tried to capture a masked boy from Agartha and cornered him at another entrance to the legendary world. However, when Ryuji successfully unlocked the gate, he immediately turned on them, revealing that he was only using them to find a way to revive his deceased wife.
