Katsuhiko "Tessie" Teshigawara (勅使河原 克彦, Teshigawara Katsuhiko) is a supporting character in Your Name. and a cameo character in Weathering with You.
Appearance[]
Tessie is a young man with an average build and height. He is slightly tanned, has thick dark eyebrows and a friendly smile. Tessie sports black hair which is kept distinctively shaved, and he has hazel-colored eyes.
Personality[]
Tessie is a kind, friendly and daring boy, sometimes to the point of being reckless, as he did not hesitate to help Mitsuha blowing up a substation, a clearly criminal act. Meanwhile, he shows himself to be unambitious and only wishes to have a normal life in Itomori, where he has a strong attachment to, as he was annoyed when his friends badmouthed the town. He is an enthusiast in occult stories and a regular reader of Mu magazine.
Tessie has very good relationships with Mitsuha and Sayaka. He seems to have had a bit crush on Mitsuha, but he eventually ends up with Sayaka, who he occasionally bickers with. On the other hand, the boy has an uneasy relationship with his own father, whom he thinks is corrupted for his shady business with Mitsuha's mayor father.

Katsuhiko Teshigawara was born to a construction contractor and an unnamed woman in 1996. He enrolled to Itomori High School and befriended Mitsuha Miyamizu and Sayaka Natori. He owned a bicycle and a Honda Super Cub. In the original timeline, Tessie was among the victims killed in the Comet Tiamat incident in 2013.
In the new timeline, Mitsuha, Tessie and Sayaka conspired to evacuate the town. While Sayaka was in charge of the hijacked broadcast system, Tessie used the explosives he got from his family's company to blow up the town's substation. However, they failed to convinced the towns inhabitants to clear the area, so Tessie told Mitsuha to find and convince her father. Thanks to the mayor's order, the town, including Tessie was evacuated and saved.

In 2021, Tessie was engaged to Sayaka and they were about to marry. One day in December, they visited a Starbucks and discussed their upcoming wedding.
In 2022, they were seen looking at some real estate information.

- In an interview, Makoto Shinkai revealed that Tessie is an image of his own childhood, as his parents were running a construction company and forced him to take over the business one day, just like Tessie in the movie.[1]
