Kotani (小谷, Kotani) is a minor character in 5 Centimeters per Second manga. He is a college friend of Takaki Tōno.
Background[]
Kotani was in a group of friends with Takaki Tōno, Takeuchi and other friends from university. They had not met for a year until 2007.
Sometimes during this period, he has been dumped by his girlfriend, and having some troubles in his job.

Kotani and friends had a class reunion in 2007 but he had blacked out even before Takaki arrived.
Some time later, he moved so his friends lost contact with him.
