Shun is a very kind and caring boy towards Asuna Watase, after he saved her from a fearsome creature that attacked her. When he fought the fearsome creature, he showed bravery and confidence. Throughout his moments with Asuna at the beginning, he always had a positive emotion to Asuna and smiled at her when he knew about his coming death.

Background[]

Before the film, Shun and his younger brother Shin lost his parents, until he and his brother were saved and brought up by the villagers. He and his brother Shin were then trained to fight others or monsters, during their task. At some point, he was mentored by a man who then escaped to the surface.

Before the events of the movie, he seemed to caught an incurable disease that was killing him slowly.

In Children Who Chase Lost Voices[]

When Asuna was about to get injured by the fearsome creature, Shun saved her in time and told her to stay back so that he could slay the fearsome creature. When Shuns clavis crystal glowed, He knew that something bad is gonna happen to him. After Shun defeated the creature, he carried Asuna to the cliff in order for the police to not notice that they were there. She noticed that there were tears coming out of his eyes, a sign that he knew he was going to die soon. They then said goodbye when the night fell.

The next day as Asuna noticed Mimi approached to her, she asked Mimi why it was with Shun. Asuna noticed his wounds from his attack with the creature and decided to wrap his wounds. Later they both listen to Asuna's radio. Shun told Asuna he was from another country called Agartha and that he came to this place to find something. He then gave Asuna a blessing in the form of a kiss to the forehead. Asuna left hurriedly and told Shun she would be back tomorrow. Now alone, Shun looked up at the stars and fell from the ledge to his death.
