Kagoshima Prefectural Nakatane High School

Tanegashima High School (種子島高等学校, Tanegashima Kōtōgakkō) is a senior high school located on the island of Tanegashima in Kagoshima. It is attended by Takaki Tōno and Kanae Sumida in 5 Centimeters per Second.

The school is based on Kagoshima Prefectural Nakatane High School.

History

Kagoshima Prefectural Nakatane High School was opened on March 1, 1948 and operated until 2008, when it became Kagoshima Prefectural Tanegashima Center High School.

As Takaki Tōno planned to enter this school, Kanae Sumida also studied hard to be admitted to it. In her first year, she was in class 1-3 with Saki while Takaki was in class 1-1. They represented their classes at the cultural festival's meeting.

In 1999, all senior students were asked to fill questionnaires about their future plan. Still longing for Takaki, Kanae could not make a decision, and was reprimanded by job advisor Ito.

After graduating from this school, Takaki moved to Tokyo for university, while Kanae spent a year for job hunting in Nishinoomote.
