On September 4, 2013, he was listening to Itomori mayor's campaign speech in the morning. In the evening, he and his wife were present at the village's ritual dance, where they commented about the likeness of Mitsuha and Yotsuha to their mother.
In 2016, after the comet crash, he and his wife ran a Takayama ramen store somewhere in Gifu. One day, when a customer took out a drawing from his bag, his wife recognized it to be Itomori and told him to come and confirm it. Then, he drove the boy and his friends to Itomori and later to Hida City Library.
On the next day, he drove the boy to a mountain he asked for. Before the boy get off the car to walk on foot, he gave him a lunchbox and commented that his drawing was good.
